José Miguel Salvador is a connoisseur, columnist and collector of Habanos for more than 15 years. Back in 2004, at his 36 years old, he founded and became president of the first Cigar Club in Chile at The Ritz Carlton Santiago. He is now a professor of Habanos at the Escuela de Sommeliers de Chile and Escuela de los Sentidos. He is a wellknown columnist about Habano related subjects in prestigious Chilean lifestyle magazines. Local media named him as ¨The Lord of the Cigar¨ as per his passion and endless promotion of this ancestral pleasure. In a recent edition of a local lifestyle magazine, he was included into the 50 more influential persons to the ¨good life¨ in Chile, as per his valued contribution of the cigar ritual to the national culture.
The Russian edition of Smoke Magazine, highlights José Miguel´s devotion to the world of the Havana Cigars and his inspirational motivation to develop and promote a market for Habanos at the end of the world (Chile). In 2009, he opened La Casa del Habano franchise in Chile and one year later was assigned as sub-distributor of Habanos, S.A. for the Chilean Market. In 2012, he was invited to be permanent member of the expert panel of juries for the Habanosommelier contest (position that he holds until now). He has devotedly defended the cigar smokers rights in Chile through radio and media publications including film productions where the Habanos play a key role. The former has inspired the Cuban embassy in Chile to describe Jose Miguel as the ¨most Cuban of the Chileans¨.
In 2013, he was nominated by Habanos S.A. for the Habano Man of the Year Award.
